Imagine a love story blossoming in a place that has witnessed generations of heartfelt vows and joyous celebrations. Malinda and Max's wedding was not just an event but a beautiful culmination of 50 years of love and care, cultivated in a stunning 100-acre garden. Their backyard wedding venue, lovingly created by Malinda's grandparents, was more than just a picturesque setting—it was a testament to family heritage and enduring love. As they stood surrounded by hand-built structures and vibrant seasonal flowers, with a serene pond reflecting their happiness, it was clear that this day was about more than just two hearts becoming one. It was about honoring a legacy and creating new memories in a place rich with history and emotion.
How did you two meet? We actually met at work. Max would tell you we were coworkers, while Malinda would say she was his boss. We worked at a high school, and the students were instantly trying to matchmake and get us together.
What were your first impressions of each other? Malinda was really impressed with Max’s abilities at work; he was confident and able to work independently, which was really important to her as his boss. Plus, he was pretty cute! Although part-time, Max really enjoyed going into work with Malinda every day. She was a great boss and coworker. She was really easy to get along with and had a great sense of humor.
Can you recall a particularly memorable date or moment in your relationship? One particularly memorable date was probably our first date! Max took Malinda to one of the great Philadelphia rooftop bars followed by dinner at a cute little cafe in town. The only problem was that it decided to start hurricane-ing during their walk, and Max nearly lost all his money to the wind on the way to dinner.
When did you realize you were in love? We realized it pretty early on in our relationship. Being coworkers and friends first had us spending a lot of time together before we were dating. Max “accidentally” told Malinda he loved her only a few months in, and she “purposefully” said it back.
How did the proposal happen? Max proposed to Malinda in St. Pete, FL, in April 2022. They had been dating for 4 years and went on vacation to visit some of Max’s family. Max had planned a surprise beach picnic, complete with mimosas, charcuterie, and a record player. It was magical.
What are your favorite things to do together? We love to go to happy hour or a brewery on a sunny day. Hikes and pickleball became staples for us during the pandemic.
What do you most admire about your partner? Malinda most admires Max’s ability to light up a room. He can bring energy and joy anywhere and make sure everyone feels included.
How do you envision your future together? We plan to settle down outside Philadelphia. Next on Max’s list is a dog, ideally a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Is there a song, movie, or book that’s particularly significant to your relationship? The Incredibles 2 will always hold a special place in their hearts because it was the first movie they saw together in theaters.
Why did you choose LightMaster Studios for your photography needs? There are a number of reasons we picked LightMaster Studios, mainly because of their photographs and style, but also largely in part due to the kindness and commitment of the team, even from the first phone call. We also tried really hard to support local businesses, and it was a bonus for us that we could support a minority-owned local business. They were easily our best communicating vendor!
